Programs FAQ

Is this program only for a certain age or income level?

Not at all! Our financial literacy mentorship is for everyone – from teenagers just starting out, to working adults, to seniors looking to improve their retirement situation. We work with people across all income levels and backgrounds. Whether you’re a veteran on a fixed income, a college student with part-time earnings, or a busy parent with a full-time job, our multi-generational approach means we have mentors and workshops that fit your stage of life. If you’re willing to learn, we’re excited to help – no exclusions.

I don’t even know where to begin… Will I feel out of place?

We specialize in helping beginners and folks who feel completely lost. In fact, most people who join us felt overwhelmed by money matters at first. We start with the basics – explaining concepts in plain language and using real-world examples. You’ll never be made to feel dumb for asking questions (we encourage them!). From setting up a simple budget to opening your first investment account, we guide you through each step. You’ll be learning alongside others in the same boat, and with personal mentors to answer questions. So you’ll fit right in, even if you’re starting from zero knowledge.

What makes the Toni Meldrum Foundation different from other financial education options?

Three things: Personal mentorship, real-world practice, and values. Unlike a typical seminar or online course that just dumps information on you, we pair you with mentors who actually walk with you as you apply what you learn. It’s ongoing support, not a one-time class. Second, we use interactive simulations – you get to practice things like creating a budget, comparing loan options, or even “invest” play money in a mock stock market – so by the time you do it for real, you’re confident. Finally, our faith-based, community approach sets us apart. We treat financial wellness holistically – it’s about improving your life and helping your family and community, not just numbers in an account. We often partner with local churches, schools, and nonprofits to reach those who need it most. And as a nonprofit, our goal isn’t to sell you products – it’s purely to empower you. Many of our workshops are free or low-cost (thanks to donors), so nothing stands in the way of you getting the help you need. You won’t find that combination of heart and hands-on help elsewhere.
